Our grandson loves everything about outdoors--hunting, camping, playing, hiking, biking, etc.--so we purchased the entire set of Lane Walker's Hometown Hunters. We're currently on book #3 and our seven-year-old is completely hooked while I am grateful for the wholesome story-telling and how Mr. Walker seamlessly incorporates a message of faith that communicates the message of God's centrality in his family's life. That's very much the way we strive to live our lives and hope that's the witness we share, so I'm grateful that Mr. Walker's writing supports that message. Last night we read chapter 8 of Terror at Deadwood Lake. My grandson laughed so hard, I had to remind him to be quiet because his younger brother was already asleep. This morning, when he picked up the book, he took it to his grandfather and asked him to reread chapter 8, so they could enjoy a good laugh together. As a professional educator, I highly recommend this series because of the interest level and quality writing.

My son is NOT a fan of reading. There are only a few books that I have been able to get him to read and they are as follows: Judy Young series called The Wild World of Buck Bray where a young boy goes on adventures in various National Parks and the Jeffrey Brown series called Lucy & Andy Neanderthal. That's it. He is 12 years old and I gave him this book, Terror at Deadwood Lake, last night at about 8pm. He stopped playing his video game and started reading it. This morning he told me he finished the book before going to bed last night. This have NEVER happened before. I immediately ordered the entire 9 books that are available and I'll give the one that he has to a cousin or friend in hopes of sharing the love of reading. My son much prefers non-fiction reading and his teachers have told me that he needs to read more fiction. Thank you for writing a book that is a happy medium for my son and others like him.

We have the entire Hometown Hunter Series. My 12 year old has enjoyed reading these and my 7 and 8 year olds beg me to read one more chapter every night. We all love the stories and cannot set them down!! Best thing to come out of Michigan since Charles Woodson;)

Bought for my 8 year old grandson. My husband and I read the book before we gave it to him and thought it was very good. Plenty of excitement and suspense to keep ones interest Heartily recommend. A very wholesome book, too.

After a few days of making my son read for 15 min a day on this book, he sat down and read for 2 hours straight and came out and told us all about the book. I ordered the 3 fish ones for him next and he says he will read them! He is a hard sell, I’m happy to see him reading again.
